I made an appointment at Martin's Point South Portland to have my yearly physical exam, which is covered under my insurance plan as preventative care at 100%. However, whoever I set the appointment with must have not booked me as preventative care. Since I am young and had labs within 3 years, I received a focused exam, no labs and was out within 30 minutes. I received a bill for $180. I called Martin's Point to tell them they coded and billed me incorrectly. I spoke with one person at billing who said they would speak with coders. I never received a call back as promised. I called a week later, spoke with another person at billing who said coders reviewed everything and their opinion was everything was coded properly. I even called my insurance company-they said what I decribe sounds like preventative care and to call Martin's Point as it was coded incorrectly.
I wish I could give them one star... this past summer I went in with acute lower back pain and the people at Martins Point told me it was a muscle sprain. Ok great, easy. Anyway, I took a few weeks off from my workouts (note i'm a dual sport NCAA athlete) and the pain only got worse. So I go in again and they say its nothing more than a muscle sprain. Now I'm getting frustrated. Of course, the pain doesn't go away no matter what I do. After making numerous phone calls to their office, I finally get the OK to get an x-ray but the results come back negative. For the third time my pain is dismissed!! At that point summer was winding down and I went back to school. As soon as I got on campus I went to my athletic trainer who sent me to the team doctor. She immediately ordered me an MRI and guess what? I have a herniated and bulged disc!!! Now I'm forced to miss half the hockey season and go through painful rehab all because Martin's Point ignored my pain. Thank you Martins Point, I really do appreciate your services.
Long story short, DO NOT GO THERE. This is a massive company that only WANTS YOUR MONEY. They certainly do not care about you. They'll take your money without even thinking twice about it.
